Chris Powles

Growing up in Milford Chris didn’t realise what was on his doorstep and made the decision to ‘get out’ of Milford to join the Army aged 18 and worked as a Terrain Analysis technician in the Royal Engineers for around 5 years.  It was during this time travelling with the Army that Chris realised what a great and unique place Pembrokeshire and in particular Milford Haven was and also how much he hated being away from the sea.  It was for this reason Chris returned to raise his family here and having 3 sons being on, in and near the water has always been a big part of their lives.  As an active person and all round adventurer Chris has taken on many challenges from Climbing, Surfing, Mountain Biking, Nordic Skiing, Canoeing, Coasteering and plenty of other activities that have kept him active.

Having spent the last 20 years as a youth worker Chris has been able to support all sorts of young people overcome the barriers they face and using the outdoors with adventurous & physical activity has always been a huge part of this including taking young people on residential activities and camping expeditionsboth in the UK and abroad to experience a number of new adventures.  Through Chris’s work he has seen what works in supporting all sorts of people and by using this knowledge Chris wanted to create a business that supports the people of Milford and encourages visitors to the town to enjoy the waterway with it’s unique history and place in Welsh & British culture whilst giving the locals a new and exciting base for fun in their home town.

Mike is relatively new to the world of water sports as like many who live in Pembrokeshire, he has lived by the sea most of his life and not taken full advantage of it! Mike enjoys the local beaches and coastal path but has been bitten by the paddleboard bug like so many others recently as part of its rise in popularity. Mike is trying to get out on the sea as often as possible to improve his skills so he can carry out his instructor training course as soon as possible. Mike is often described by those who know him as ‘the nicest man on the planet’ but he does have one flaw and that is that he’s a massive Love Island fan!

Mike is involved in the Operational Management side of the business as his strengths are ensuring processes are carried out to the highest standards and in the safest manner, all skills he has to implement daily in his role as an industrial radiographer. Mike has worked on a number of sites around the UK but his family have been permanently based in Hakin. Mike has done his spell of being a ‘travelling worker’ and has been based on Valero for the past few years and now finds himself in a position to be able to offer something to the community and when asked if he wanted to be involved in a venture of this nature he jumped at the chance to create something that benefits the town.

Sam Lingwood

Sam is currently a member of the Armed Forces and the Regimental Sergeant Major at the Joint Services Mountain Training Centre in Anglesey. He has served and been a leader in Operational Tours all over the world. As a member of the Army Physical Training Corps Sam has been able to build up a wealth of outdoor education qualifications in various disciplines and as such is Milford Beach Activity Centres Lead Instructor. Sam has led skiing exercises in the Alps, Mountain Climbing Expeditions in Patagonia and Sea Kayaking Expeditions in Belize. He also orchestrates adventure training for elite military personnel. These roles involve managing remote risk at the highest level meaning that everyone who visits MBAC can be reassured they are in very safe hands.

Sam enjoys continuous professional development, and this is evident in the portfolio of qualifications he already has under his belt.

As Sam is coming to the end of his military career, he has established firm roots in Milford having grown up here. Sam has 2 sons and his wife works in Withybush Hospital . They are keen to play their part in seeing Milford Haven and Pembrokeshire thrive. Sam and Gill have also recently bought the Nos Da Bar near the Marina so after a fun activity on the water there will be a welcome pint waiting there.
